I am an Applied Microeconomist focusing on Demography and Labor. Specifically, I work on fertility, aging, and the intersection of international trade and labor market outcomes in developing countries.
I am currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics & Finance, School of Management, Mahindra University in India. Previously, I worked as an Assistant Professor at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and SRM University-AP, India. I held postdoctoral research positions at the International Institute for Population Sciences, India, as a part of the WHO-Study on global AGEing and adult health team studying ageing; and the University of St Andrews, UK, in the ‘FertilityTrends’ team researching on European fertility. I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, USA, in 2019.
Causes: Better Education, Better Health, Better Nourishment
Most of my research, teaching, and volunteering advocate towards improving the quality and access to education; accessible, affordable, and effective healthcare; and nourishment for individuals by tackling systemic disparities.
Philosophy
Human welfare is an end goal in itself (and are not instruments to other goals like profits). The dignity and worth of a person is paramount, independent of their utility to others.
